NATEOh what to say about me…I just graduated from Northwest University with a BA in youth ministry. I am no longer a college student hiding from reality, residing as a bum on the parents couch; I’ve had to grow up and become a big boy. Since graduating, I have been truly blessed with the opportunity to minister at such an amazing church. The youth here at Point Break are incredible! I can’t even describe them (though I just said they are incredible) and the pastoral staff, a.k.a. “the bosses,” are amazing! I am a true outdoors fanatic! I have a passion for surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, wakeboarding, and hiking. I love to incorporate the outdoors into ministry! It is my aspiration to encourage spiritual seekers looking to start their journey with Christ. I desire to help the next generation encounter God in a real and personal way; to give kids a different spin on God and what it means to be a Christ follower. I want to equip the youth to become disciples who will then equip others.

THE WILKIESDan & Sharon have been active in church music for their entire married life (over 26 years). Dan spent the first 6 years of his life in Uruguay with his missionary parents, and Sharon grew up in Boise, ID, taking piano lessons from age 8. They met while she was attending Northwest College in Kirkland, where she received her AA degree (music emphasis).

Besides organizing and leading worship, Dan also plays the bass guitar, electric & acoustic guitars, and directs the church's small ensembles/choirs. Sharon leads worship occasionally, sings and plays the piano and keyboard (as well as teaching piano professionally.) They enjoy working together, along with their team of musicians, making it their goal to point the team and congregation to Christ, through their leadership in music.

Articles & Resources for Church Workers

  • Starting a Greeter Program
Four years ago I accepted the challenge of evangelism chairperson for our church. One of the first programs the pastor and I developed was the Sunday morning greeter program.
  • Motivating the Right Person into the Right Ministry
One of the greatest challenges for most leaders is selecting and motivating the right people into the right ministry positions in hopes of minimizing turnover and frustration. Even in the smaller church with limited personnel, it is important to coordinate people and ministry as much as possible.
  • “I TRIED, BUT NO ONE EVER CALLED ME”
“I tried, but no one ever called me” are painful words for a leader who has much work to do and not enough people willing to do it. These words are painful for the person who wanted to contribute, but was never called. These are also painful words for a person who is committed to helping people connect and contribute in meaningful ways within the church.
